Developed on six hectares of prime waterfront land at Marina Bay, Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay is Singapore’s premier performing arts center. It is an addition to the country’s vibrant cultural district which includes the National Gallery of Singapore, Victoria Theatre & Concert Hall and Marina Bay Sands. Other than hosting performing arts, Esplanade also has exhibition spaces and retail outlets.

Designed by DP Architects and Michael Wilford & Partners, visitors will not miss two eye-catching spiky dome-shaped exteriors upon arrival. These twin-domes are lightweight, curve-shaped frames that were fitted with over 7000 triangular glasses and sunshades.

This design allows natural light flowing into the building throughout the day, giving it a dramatic look from the shadow and textures of the building’s materials.

Lysaght was able to offer its LOCKED SEAM® profile in the form of CLEAN COLORBOND® ULTRA steel to meet the Esplanade’s technically demanding structure. This is a testament to our ability in meeting all kinds of design expectations by developing high-quality, cost-effective products.

 

LYSAGHT® LOCKED SEAM®

A high quality, lightweight but robust standing seam roof profile, the LYSAGHT® LOCKED SEAM® is very suitable for a contemporary and challenging architecture like the Esplanade.

It is cost-effective and easily customised to pitched, curved or tapered designs. Aside from its design adaptability, the roofing profile is also completely water-tight as it is mechanically seamed. Importantly, it was able to illustrate Esplanade’s exterior beautifully, making it an iconic cultural landmark in Singapore.
