Synergy Through Sustainability – BlueScope and Porsche Malaysia Exclusive Collaborative Event
A shared vision on accelerating sustainability.
NS BlueScope Malaysia is proudly announcing its collaboration with Porsche Malaysia for an event themed “Synergy Through Sustainability”. Held at Porsche Centre Ara Damansara on 27 March 2024, this collaborative event signifies a remarkable stride in driving sustainability forward in both the manufacturing and automotive industries.
The event showcased the collective efforts of NS BlueScope Malaysia and Porsche Malaysia in promoting sustainability initiatives, highlighting the significance of their partnership in fostering innovation and driving sustainability efforts forward.
Wong Sen Meng, Country President of NS BlueScope Malaysia, articulated into BlueScope’s commitment to sustainability, highlighting key investments and initiatives undertaken to reducing carbon footprint and promoting eco-friendly practices in manufacturing. Sen Meng emphasised the importance of sustainability in BlueScope’s corporate vision, with a goal of achieving zero net greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.
Ken Wong, Vice President Marketing of NS BlueScope Malaysia, presented BlueScope’s sustainability roadmap, showcasing investments in renewable energy, operation efficiency, and innovative technologies aimed at achieving the vision of net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. He elaborated on several initiatives implemented at the Kapar Manufacturing Plant in Klang, including:
- The establishment of NS BlueScope SunField, a solar farm equivalent to 6-football fields.
- Installations of solar-powered streetlights around the factory.
- Adoption of efficiency-improving measures such as Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer (RTO), rainwater harvesting and wasterwater treatment management.
Ken shed light on BlueScope’s technological advancements, notably the COLORBOND® steel with THERMATECH® technology. This innovative solution reduces surface temperatures, enhancing thermal comfort in buildings and improving energy efficiency, making it an excellent choice for meeting green building standards promoting a greener future.
Representing Porsche Malaysia were Christiaan Knaap, Chief Operating Officer of Sime Darby Auto Performance; Chris Chia, Dealer Principal of Porsche Centre Ara Damansara; and Winston Fong, Head of Marketing & Communications of Sime Darby Auto Performance. Winston conveyed insights into Porsche’s journey towards electrification and sustainability, highlighting the development of the Taycan electric sports car and the brand’s commitment to promoting electromobility.
Guests were invited to an exclusive driving experience with the Porsche Taycan, immersing themselves in the performance and innovation of Porsche’s all-electric sports car.
